Saturday. For many of us, it’s a day to catch up on life administration, it’s a day where we might have a small window to grab a coffee with a friend we haven’t seen in ages and it’s a day where we try to jam in so much that it gets over whelming.
I often find myself coming to the end of Saturday and feeling uninspired, like I just want to do nothing. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes doing nothing is good for the soul, but these days are the best days to be inspired. Some Saturday spirituality at least that’s what I’m calling it from now on. Sometimes I think spirituality gets a bad wrap based on stereotypes and religion stigmas.
But isn’t spirituality religion?
“Spirituality is something that’s talked about a lot but is often misunderstood. Many people think that spirituality and religion are the same thing, and so they bring their beliefs and prejudices about religion to discussions about spirituality. Though all religions emphasise spirituality as being part of faith, you can be ‘spiritual’ without being religious or a member of an organised religion.
There are some pretty clear ways in which religion and spirituality differ.
Religion: This is a specific set of organised beliefs and practices, usually shared by a community or group.
Spirituality: This is more of an individual practice, and has to do with having a sense of peace and purpose. It also relates to the process of developing beliefs around the meaning of life and connection with others.” – Source
In summary, spirituality to me is discovering and becoming content with myself and my purpose, while continuing to inspire myself and being inspired by those around me.
So welcome to… Saturday Spirituality #1
Here’s something that has inspired me this week that I hope inspires you and excites your soul
